Consensus Recommendations for Diagnosis and Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis: 2023 revision of The MENACTRIMS Guidelines
This publication presents updated consensus recommendations from the Middle East North Africa Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (MENACTRIMS), aiming to improve the diagnosis and management of multiple sclerosis (MS) based on current scientific evidence and clinical expertise.
The guidelines address diagnostic criteria, emphasizing the integration of clinical findings and supportive investigations to establish dissemination in time and space while excluding alternative diagnoses. They also review the management of acute relapses, selection of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs), and treatment strategies for different MS phenotypes, including relapsing and progressive forms, clinically isolated syndrome, and radiologically isolated syndrome.
Special considerations are provided for pediatric patients and women during pregnancy. The recommendations emphasize individualized therapeutic decisions to optimize treatment efficacy, safety, and overall patient outcomes.
