Bridging the Distance for Ischaemic Stroke Treatment in Regional Australia: A Retrospective Cohort Study
This retrospective cohort study examined 305 patients with acute ischemic stroke in regional Australia, highlighting significant challenges in accessing timely stroke treatment. Hypertension (83%) was the most common risk factor, while delayed access to specialized stroke care limited opportunities for reperfusion therapy. The study emphasizes the importance of early recognition, improved stroke services, and better prevention strategies in rural communities.
